Behind the scenes of Mardi Gras with GoNola.com

The city of New Orleans gets flooded each year. With people coming to celebrate Mardi Gras! And they all want a sneak-peak behind the scenes of how Mardi Gras is made. So obviously they all end up at Kern Studios, where over 70% of all Mardi Gras floats for Orleans parish are built each year.

Running up to Mardi Gras 2016, we had the pleasure of working with a crew from GoNola.com, the online platform of the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC), that serves as the City of New Orleans’ leisure travel promotion agency.

For the feature about Kern Studios, CEO Barry Kern was interviewed, as well as senior sculptor Ali McCrosky. To show the work that goes into creating just one prop, a time-lapse video was produced of Ali and paper mache artist Jessica Callac making the Boogeyman for the Krewe of Orpheus. A spectacular piece!
